17" (43 cm.) Pink-tinted porcelain shoulder head with very plump face, narrow cobalt blue glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, blonde lambswool wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at hips and knees, kid-over-wooden upper arms, porcelain arms to above the elbows, sculpted curled fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: D'Autremont Paris 6 rue du Dauphin (oval stamp on torso). Comments: the early poupee, presented in the toy shop of D'Autremont, circa 1860, was likely commissioned from Blampoix. Value Points: very rare store label, an indication of the fine quality of poupee which this is, wearing early pique gown and matching coat, undergarments, stockings, leather boots signed C.P. and early bonnet. Along with her original trunk with label of "Bouvier, Articles de Voyage", and with an extensive original trousseau including linen dress with pique jacket, Scottish plaid two-piece gown with matching cape, black silk gown, taffeta checkered pinafore dress, black velvet jacket, hooded cape, purple taffeta cape with beaded trim, extensive undergarments including chemisette embroidered H.L. and bustle back. Along with accessories including six early milliner's bonnets, two bone-handled parasols, woven basket, leather purse with watch face, fan, brush, and more, and with an embroidered needlework sampler, and with her own smaller doll, "Antoinette" with sculpted hair, painted features, French kid body and antique costume and bonnet. Included is a provenance detailing the life of the dolls, named Henriette and Antoinette by their original owner Delphine Lemoine of Passy, France, who was born in 1852.
