22" (56 cm.) Wax over paper mache shoulder head, blue glass inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, ears pierced into head, brunette mohair wig in original coiffure with braided crown, firmly stuffed muslin stitch-jointed body, paper mache lower limbs. Condition: generally excellent with some typical craquelure, fine original finish. Comments: Germany, circa 1875. Value Points: having a lovely presence, the doll has beautiful eyes, fine original wig, original body with original attached knit stockings and paper mache painted heeled shoes, and wearing original silk gown, undergarments, earrings, and with attached ink-script paper "Elda Fronart Oct 1 - 1878" likely indicating the name of original owner.
