Description
15" (38 cm.) l. 11"h. Arranged on an oval carton base with embossed paper borders is an elaborate scene depicting Joseph leading Mary and baby Jesus who are seated on a paper mache donkey; the dolls are wax with tiny bead eyes, tinted features, flocked hair, and wearing original silk and metallic costumes. Surrounding the figures are various shrubs, rocks, flowers, and other foliage. The entire arrangement is presented under domed glass. Excellent condition. Italian, late 1700s.
