15" (38 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered base with decorative braid and fringe is a bisque head jester, having untinted complexion and painted jester decorations, blue glass inset eyes, wide curvy stroke brows, open mouth, four porcelain teeth, original bi-color mohair wig, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, metal hands, wearing original silk costume, and holding a wooden guitar with painted flower design. When wound, the jester turns his head side to side, and strums his guitar, while music plays. Condition: generally excellent, costume a bit frail. Marks: A.D. Bouchet. Comments: French, Renou, circa 1900 with original bisque head by Bouchet. Value Points: charming petite musical novelty for salon with well-painted bisque head and guitar.
