Description
12" (30 cm.) Carved socket head with bald pate except small patch of painted hair at back crown with real queue below, carved and tinted facial features, very small eyes, cloth body, wooden hands. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Chinese Door of Hope Mission, circa 1910, with original paper label "son in mourning costume". Value Points: the young man wears original linen tunic over silk twill leggings, and with coarsely woven coat and burlap ties, linen slippers, woven cap with three pom-poms designed to cover the eyes while in mourning.
