21" (53 cm.) including hair and heels. Bisque socket head, brown glass inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, open mouth, four porcelain teeth, dimpled chin, pierced ears, French composition body with jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 9/0. Comments: French, circa 1900, where the fascination with Eastern cultures and costume was at a height, influenced by the International Expositions of the past decade. Value Points: the doll wears superb original silk costume with elaborate ribbon and gold rick-rack trim comprising tunic, jacket, and long pants, with fan, silk hankies, silk slippers on high stacked heels, and "liangbatou" transitional hairstyle decorated with flowers, beads, and embroidered bands.
