Description
23" (58 cm.) x 16". The wooden boxed dinner service with blue embossed paper cover and gilt lettering "Service Faience" on lid along with CBG indicia, hinges open to multi-tiered interior; the box with original paper lining and with cream softpaste dinner service for four with bordered designs, comprising large lidded tureen, two smaller lidded serving bowls, two footed compotes, platters, relish dishes, four plates and soup bowls, cutlery including bone-handled knives, napkin rings, and menu cards, each still attached to original box, many with original pink silk bows. The box has original label of the prestige Parisian toy store of Au Paradis des Enfants which sold the set. Excellent unplayed with condition. French, circa 1885, Cuperly, Blondel and Gerbeau (CBG).
