Description
11" (28 cm.) Carved wooden head with very high domed bald crown, black painted circlet of hair at back of head with hole for queue (missing), incised age wrinkles on forehead and at sides of mouth, painted and carved features, tinted features, cloth body, wooden hands. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Chinese Door of Hope Mission, circa 1925, at this time the dolls were marketed in the US by Kimport Dolls whose tag and description are still attached to the doll. Value Points: wonderful facial carving, wearing original black silk jacket over (faded) lavender tunic, blue leggings, black silk slippers.
