Description
20" (51 cm.) All-cloth doll with pressed and oil painted facial complexion, features and baby hair in shaded brown curls, painted closed eyes as though sleeping, painted lashes, accented nostrils, closed mouth with pouty expression, blushed cheeks and earlobes, cloth ring neck allowing the baby's head to nod realistically to the side, weighted stockinette body to simulate the actual weight of a baby, separately stitched arms, loosely attached legs, sewn belly button, wearing pink cotton romper suit with matching jacket, socks and shoes. Condition: generally excellent, repaired stitching on left thumb. Marks: Kathe Kruse (and illegible markings on left foot). Comments: Kathe Kruse, type 5 model marketed as "Traumerchen", circa 1925. Value Points: rare model with beautiful sculpted and painted face and hair, fine original finish, cloth "Marshall Fields" label in original costume.
