Description
11" (28 cm.) A wooden platform with decorative paper covers presents a lively scene of bisque-headed Maestro and his two paper mache performing seals; the man with sculpted bisque hat and sculpted beard and moustache, is wearing his original costume. Each seal, posed upon a wooden block, has hinged arms, one with loosely-jointed wooden cap holding a bow and violin and the other posed with a gilded harp. When the porcelain knob at the front is wound, the Maestro turns from side to side and waves his arms as though conducting, and the seals move their arms as though playing their musical instruments, the hat turns on one. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, Zinner and Sohne, circa 1890. Value Points: the delightfully-amusing toy is wonderfully-preserved, has rare model bisque head and hat on man, and amusing actions with nice quality of music.
