24" (61 cm.) Bisque socket head with very plump face, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brush-stroked and multi-feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with shaded outlined lips, well-defined chin, pierced ears, mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight loose-ball-jointed body with pewter hands, pull-string "mama" crier. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: P. 4 D. Comments: Petit & Dumoutier, circa 1885, the firm was unique in creating bebes with distinctive complexion-painted pewter hands. Value Points: very beautiful bebe with superbly-sculpted and painted features, very lovely antique costume.
