Bisque socket head, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, rose-blushed eyeshadow, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips, dimpled chin, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over Steiner pate, French composition fully-jointed body with straight wrists, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: J. Steiner Bte SGDG Paris Fre A 7 (head) Bebe Steiner (and paper label of doll holding flag, on torso) Au Nain Bleu...(paper label on torso). Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1890, the doll was originally offered by the famous 19th century Parisian doll shop of Au Nain Bleu. Value Points: very fine bisque and painting, original body and body finish, original store label, antique costume including original cream kidskin shoes by Alart with impressed figure of doll.
