16" (41 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head, sculpted brown hair with tightly-crimped curls around her face and captured in a chignon at the back encircled by narrow braid, curls at nape, enamel eyes with heavy eyelids, sculpted parted lips, teeth, tow-wrapped armature body, sculpted wooden lower arms and legs, painted green stockings, black shoes with red buckles, wearing original silk folklore costume with velvet embroidered apron, and silver and bead necklaces and little book. Excellent condition, two fingers repaired. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, outstanding portraiture with distinctive coiffure, refined expression.
