11" (28 cm.) Bisque shoulderhead, cobalt blue glass eyes, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, hand-stitched kid torso and arms, carved bone handle. When shaken back and forth, the marotte squeaks. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1865. Value Points: beautifully-preserved rare early party marotte wearing superb original blue silk costume with silver bells, ivory silk turban with flowers.
