34" (86 cm.) Bisque socket head with plump elongated cheeks, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, heavy eyelids, rose-blushed eye shadow, brushstroked brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, impressed dimples at chin and philtrum, separately modeled pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with plump limbs and straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 16 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1884, the model known as Bebe Triste in reference to its solemn expression. Value Points: beautiful flawless bisque with fine delicate complexion on the lovely bebe, rarely found in this grand size 16, wearing lovely antique costume of rose silk faille, and with original Jumeau shoes signed "Paris Bebe 16" with bee symbol.
