8" (20 cm.) Carved wooden head with rounded facial modeling, painted facial features, slightly smiling expression, shadowed hair, inserted sidelocks, armature body, carved wooden hands and feet, wearing vibrant black silk costume of kimono and trousers combination in brilliant green and yellow designs, distinctive paper lacquer hat with gold and black striping and red circle, tassel ties, patterned silk undersleeves, silk socks, holding two bells and posed on wooden handled stand. Generally excellent. Mid-1900s.
