Description
12" (28 cm.) l. 13" h. Seated upon a flannel-covered paper mache bear with brown glass eyes, leather harness and metal wheels is a bisque-headed clown with sculpted hat and fantastical modeling of ears, painted blue eyes, painted clown decorations, closed mouth with beaming smile with row of painted teeth, wooden lower arms and legs, painted boots, original costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: A G (or 0) 3 (doll) Germany (bottom of bear foot). Comments: Germany, circa 1890. Value Points: charming toy with highly characterized facial expression, including unusual ears; the presentation on bear is all original, as is the costume.
