23" (58 cm.) Carved wooden head and torso, bedpost-shaped head, elongated throat, shapely front torso, flat black torso, inset blue enamel eyes, defined pointy nose, painted thin line lashes and eyeliner, closed mouth, blush-spot cheeks, cloth hand-stitched arms and legs, hand-stitched kid lower arms. Condition: original painted finish is well-preserved, kiss-rubs on nose tip and lips. Comments: English, circa 1789. Value Points: rare large luxury size with fine original finish, remnants of original wig under original lace and silk cap, original undergarments including pocket purse, early transfer-print gown, hand-stitched painted kidskin slippers, and with original storage box. Acquired from the collection of the late English author Kay Desmond.
