Description
5" (13 cm.) x 3". A rectangular wooden box with leather cover upon which is centered an oil painting depicting three men on a shipwrecked island, one with binoculars watching the hopeful arrival of another ship and the other two seated forlornly alongside. The box opens to a mirrored back and neatly-fitted velvet lining containing gold sewing tools, including scissors with silver blades, gold thimble with two-color gold border, needle case, stiletto, mother-of- pearl knife, and more. Excellent condition. Germany, circa 1860.
