Description
10" (25 cm.) l. 12" h. overall. Standing upon the frame of a three-wheeled base is a bisque-head doll with blue glass paperweight inset eyes,painted facial features,closed mouth,brunette mohair wig,carton torso and lower limbs,and wearing lavish all-original silk Marquis costume with lace and gilt paper trim,including bi-corn hat. The toy is being pulled by two miniature toy horses. When wound,the toy propels in circles and forward,causing the horses to bob up and down as though galloping. Generally excellent,all original albeit some fading of costume,and paint flakes on frame. French,circa 1885,attributed to Theroude.
