7" (18 cm.) l. slipper. Designed of very fine silk, the handmade pincushion novelties include a slipper, violin, album, urn, heart ,oval medallion, and butterfly. Each has a pincushion or flannel pin pads hidden inside, such as the fluttering butterfly wings, or the violin with lifting back side. The pincushions are lavishly decorated with silk ribbons, velvet bows, beading, hand-painting or embroidery. French, late 1800s, a superb collection both in its imaginative designs and perfectly-preserved condition.
