Rare Large German Bisque Character from Art Series of Wislizenus

25" (64 cm.) Very plump bisque socket head with very high domed forehead, grey glass sleep eyes, painted long curly lashes, dark eyeliner, short feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth appearing as though open, pronounced modeled tongue tip, two modeled holes at upper mouth with inserted porcelain teeth, blonde mohair wig, very plump composition toddler body with side-hip jointing. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: AW 16. Comments: Adolf Wislizenus, circa 1912, from the firm's series of art character dolls. Value Points: the rare model has unusual head modeling, rare construction system of teeth, original wig, wonderful original plump toddler body and antique costume.
