14" (36 cm.) Bisque socket head with chubby face, large round brown glass sleep and side-glancing googly eyes, dark eyeliner, painted curly lashes, side-angled feathered brows, button-shaped nose, closed mouth in watermelon-slice shape, brunette human hair in bobbed fashion over plaster pate, composition and wooden ball-jointed toddler body with side-hip jointing, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent, original body and body finish. Marks: c Made in Germany 7 JDK 221 Ges Gesch. Comments: Kestner, circa 1912, the model was inspired by Rose O'Neill's Kewpie which the Kestner firm also made. Value Points: the beloved googly has most appealing wide shy expression, fine bisque and painting, original body and body finish.
