10" (25 cm.) Carved wooden head with gofun finish, glass inset eyes, painted features, closed mouth, black silk fiber hair in elaborate upswept coiffure that is trimmed with shaped multi-colored flowers of silk crepe and with foil ornaments, wooden hands with expressive fingers, wooden feet, wearing silk crepe costume in unusual pattern and colors, red patterned under-kimono, and fawn-spotted red silk crepe obi with extended train and cord tie, posed on wooden stand. Excellent condition. Meiji era, early 1900s.
