17" (43 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head with heart-shaped face, elongated throat, black sculpted hair with very full pouf curls at each side and a high hair loop at the crown (known as "bee-hive") with decorative braid, painted facial features, painted large brown eyes, black upper eyeliner, single-stroke brows, tiny closed mouth, slender kid body, wooden lower limbs, painted shoes. Condition: generally excellent, horizontal craze lines on shoulder plate, fine original finish on face and hair, sturdy body. Comments: Germany, circa 1830. Value Points: rare early doll with superbly-sculpted hair and entrancing large brown eyes, original silk gown and undergarments.
