Description
24" (61 cm.) All-wooden doll has swivel head with well-defined sculpting of facial shape, eyelids, ears, and unusual mouth sculpted to appear as open with two beaded teeth, enamel inset eyes, brunette human hair, wooden torso, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees and with sculpted details of fingers on over-sized hands. Condition: structurally excellent, albeit the original paint-over-gesso finish is very worn, eyes clouded. Comments: Continental, late 18th century. Value Points: the wonderfully-sculpted gentleman with distinctive features of face, all-wooden dowel-jointed body, is wearing fine antique costume comprising velvet long-tailed high-waisted jacket, silk vest, shirt, tie, woolen trousers, shoes, woven hat.
