Description
Of heavy white poplin, the costume features a middy blouse with blue accents including eagle and anchor embroidery on the sleeve, zipper front, and black tie, along with a pair of matching sailor pants. The costume is labeled "352" inside pants, and "Spud's Place 352 Honolulu" (inside jacket) . Generally excellent. Included are three vintage photographs of Shirley wearing the costume. The costume was worn by Star (Shirley Temple) in the 1936 film "Captain January", in her role as the orphaned girl saved from shipwreck off the coast of New England by lighthouse keeper, Captain January. The costume is the everyday wear of the tomboy child, notably appearing (with alternate pants) in the famous Codfish Ball dance with Buddy Ebsen.
