18" (46 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate,oval face with full throat,large blue glass enamel inset eyes,very thick encircling eyeliner,painted short dark lashes,lightly feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with center accent line,pierced ears,brunette mohair wig over cork pate,unusually-firmly stuffed poupee body suggesting partial wooden-form inside torso and legs,shapely torso,kid-over-wooden upper arms with pivot swivel,dowel-jointed elbows with bisque forearms,cupped fingers,gusset-jointing at hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose L.D. (shoulder plate) A la Galerie Vivienne (original paper label on torso). Comments: Louis Doleac,circa 1875,the Parisian dollmaker created luxury poupees offered through prestige shops such as A La Galerie Vivienne,although their production was very small as indicated by their rarity today. Value Points: rare poupee with maker's signature and shop label,unusual body style with wonderful construction and perfect bisque hands,fine antique gown,lace-edged bonnet,jewelry,undergarments,leather boots and purse.
