Description
15" (38 cm.) Carved wooden swivel head with gesso-sculpted added coiffure including roll curls at the sides and ringlet curls at the back of head, inset enamel brown eyes, painted lashes and brows, closed mouth, wooden shapely torso, jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, carved dainty heeled shoes. Condition: very good, some wear to hair. Comments: French, late 1800s. Value Points: rare doll with highly-stylized hair, the poupee wearing velvet gown with crewel embroidery flowers, stiffened crinoline. Attached is a postcard dated 1976, "Dear Louise, have arrived and am staying the night in Fontainbleau where I bought your doll".
