19" (48 cm.) h. 18"l. Of fine polished mahogany, the high canopied bed has elaborately carved footboard with gilded bronze swag centering the two highly-carved pillars; the high wooden canopy features ogee-shaping with acorn drops at each side, and the bed is fitted with original wooden slats, mattress, linens, and very fine green taffeta bed cover and drapes, each with mauve velvet edging. Excellent condition. Circa 1870. The extraordinary quality of wood and construction indicates its origin from the hands of a fine cabinet-maker of maitrise quality.
