16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head, small blue glass sleep eyes, painted dark curly lashes, dark eyeliner, short feathered brows, accented nostrils of tiny rounded nose, open mouth, outlined lips, tiny stuck-out tongue, brunette mohair bobbed wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed toddler body with short chubby thighs, antique boy's costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Erika Simon & Halbig 1489 9. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1910, from the firm's 1400 series of character dolls; the significance of the name "Erika" remains a mystery. Value Points: rare model with most appealing expression, fine quality of bisque and painting, original rare body with original finish.
