19" (48 cm.) All wooden carved doll portraying a slender-bodied adult man designed for use as artist or costume mannequin, carved socket head depicting angular-faced man, painted brown hair cropped smoothly to head and covered by attached black tall hat, intaglio painted blue eyes, brown upper eye liner, strong nose, firmly-set lips with center accent line, spring-jointing at shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles, and with swivel ball joint at the waist. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Schoenhut, from their deluxe "Manikin" series, circa 1915. Value Points: very rare all original doll is wearing factory-made original costume depicting a circus Ringmaster and was likely a promotional or special commission doll; the doll is shown in Carol Corson’s The Encyclopedia of Schoenhut Dolls, p. 126, with the comment "his white shirt and pants combination seems to be the same fabric as that was used for the company’s regular Ringmaster".
