Description
10" (25 cm.) All wooden with swivel head, white clown-painted complexion with "O"-shaped eyes and diamond point brows, red nose and wide red mouth, hinge-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, wearing original black cotton clown suit and cap with white felt pom-poms and white edging, black painted shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Schoenhut, circa 1918, the figure was based upon the cartoon character created by the Fleischer brothers in 1915 in a series of early animation strips from their "Out of the Inkwell" studios; although the cartoon strip and Koko are largely forgotten today, they were wildly popular from 1915 until 1927. Value Points: one of the rarest of the Schoenhut figures, in fine original presentation, with original costume.
