8" (20 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head of youthful Ottoman boy, bald pate with sculpted tuft of hair at his crown, well-defined ears, enamel eyes, mouth modeled as though open with teeth and tongue tip, tow-wrapped posable armature body, painted red boots, blue stockings, original gilt-threaded silk costume and turban. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, especially distinctive facial model and hair, another example from the collection of Giuseppe Lembe has been suggested as the work of Lorenzo Mosca.
