23" (58 cm.) Bisque socket head depicting a crying child, very narrow blue glass inset eyes with highly defined eyelids, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, rounded nose with shaded nostrils, closed mouth modeled as though open in a crying expression, detailed sculpting of upper teeth, tongue, and shaded and outlined lips, separately modeled and pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent, faint old 1" line high at forehead crown rim. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 10 (head) Bebe Jumeau Diplome d'Honneur (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, his model 211 from the Series Fantastique introduced in 1892, originally commissioned for automata by Leopold Lambert and then in a very exclusive and limited production of bebe presented by his own firm; few were every made and for a limited time only. Value Points: extremely rare with outstanding modeling of features and finest bisque and painting, wearing original Jumeau couturier dress from the atelier of Ernestine Jumeau, elaborate bonnet, undergarments, leather shoes signed Bebe Jumeau Depose 10.
