Description
6" (15 cm.) largest platter. Twenty-eight pieces. Of very creamy softpaste, hand-pressed as indicated by varying degrees of thickness, the dishes each depict two Chinese boys at play with kite in a Chinese garden, in rich blue/black designs on cream background. Included are three platters of graduated size (one with hairline), two handled serving plates, two handled bowls, nine dinner plates, six smaller plates (chip on one), four various bowls, and two covered tureens (small flake on inner rim of larger). Condition: generally excellent, a few pieces darkened, see notes above. Marks: (Chinese stamped insignia). Comments: mid-19th century a rare signed export set with delightful design. Also included is a wooden cutlery tray containing a number of pewter and bone-handled cutlery.
