12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head with sculpted grey top hat having blue band decorated with stars, brown hair peeking from beneath the hat, blue glass side-glancing googly eyes, painted lashes, short feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth in impish smile, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, Uncle Sam style costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Dep Elite U.S. 1. Comments: Max Handwerck, circa 1916, from the firm's series of Elite googlies with various sculpted hats. Value Points: rare little patriotic googly with wonderfully sculpted hat and smiling expression.
