12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head depicting adult man with slender face, firmly sculpted jaw and cheek bones, aquiline nose, painted brown hair around the ears, cut pate, intaglio brown eyes, red and black upper eyeliner, thickly sculpted grey brows with comb marked details, closed mouth, very thick and full grey sculpted moustache, five-piece paper mache body with painted boots. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Dressel, their portrait of Admiral Dewey from their historical heroes of US series, circa 1892. Value Points: the rare doll is in superb original condition with elaborately ornamented original costume, epaulets, sword, and has rare painted eyes.
