35" (89 cm.) Of sturdy muslin, the doll is constructed with a wide band at the crown that is gusset-stitched to the flat dimensional face and back of head, giving depth to the head, having oil-painted brown hair with graduated-size ringlet curls at the sides of her head, oval-shaped blue eyes with brown and black eyeliner, brown brows, outlined nose with accented nostrils, closed mouth with solemn expression and shaded lips, stitch-jointing at shoulders, hips and knees, separately-stitched fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Light fading. Comments: American, late 19th century, folk artist or cottage studio is unknown. Value Points: artistic folk painting of features and hair, wearing original blue plaid cotton dress, undergarments, wonderful shoes, stockings.
