19" (48 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked and feathered brows, pointy-tip nose with accented nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette human hair over original cork pate with remains of original wig, French composition and wooden fully jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Tete Depose Paris Bebe 8 (head) Paris Bebe (and Eiffel Tower symbol on torso). Comments: Danel and Cie, circa 1890, the model was made for one or two years only; Anatole Danel, the former manager of the Jumeau firm, established his own firm, creating a bebe model that was nearly identical to the Jumeau bebe. Emile Jumeau successfully sued Danel who was forced to discontinue his bebe. Value Points: very rare bebe due to its short production era, has finest bisque and painting, original signed body, original coral silk costume with braid and lace trim, matching bonnet, undergarments, rose knit stockings and leather shoes incised "8 Paris Depose" with star symbol.
