19" (48 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulderhead, slender oval face and elongated throat, black enamel eyes, painted arched brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with primly set lips, French kid poupee body with shapely torso, gusset-jointing at hips, stitch-jointed shoulders. Condition: generally excellent, very sturdy body with some kid repairs. Comments: French, circa 1840, attributed to German immigrant Andreas Voit who established his paper mache firm in France and whose dolls are considered the premiere 19th century French poupees. Value Points: rare early doll with original looped braid wig, original body, wearing early costume.
