Description
Blue woolen coat in the traditional Tyrolean manner with red woolen edging along the lapels, pockets, cuffs and around the entire front and back hem, with eight brass buttons, and padded cotton print lining. Generally excellent condition. Along with a woven bonnet with black streamers and having deliberately worn holes around the brim. The bonnet has the original label of Baldwin and Munn of Hollywood. Included is a vintage photograph of Shirley wearing the costume. The coat and hat were worn by Heidi in numerous scenes throughout the 1937 film, including Grandfather's return to the church with Heidi, and the kidnapping of Heidi by her aunt. The reaction of Arthur Treacher (as the rich family's butler) to the hat is memorable: "Quite a personage under that extraordinary hat".
