12" (30 cm.) Porcelain head with flat-cut neck socket depicting a young child with rounded facial modeling, sculpted hair in shaded brown color waved away from her face, behind her sculpted ears, into short pageboy curls and captured by a white headband with gilt edging, painted blue eyes, red and black upper eyeliner, short feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, little round nose, closed mouth with impish shy smile, blushed cheeks, original taufling body with wax-over-paper-mache upper and lower torso and bellows midriff which "cries" when squeezed, porcelain lower limbs, painted black ankle boots, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1860. Value Points: extremely rare early doll has superb sculpting, color and style of hair, original taufling body.
