21" (53 cm.) Bisque shoulderhead of adult lady with haughtily upturned face, slender elongated throat, blue glass sleep eyes, heavy eyelids, painted lower lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, brunette mohair wig in upswept manner, slender kid body with pin-jointing, bisque lower arms. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 172 4 Made in Germany. Comments: Kestner, circa 1912, their fashionable society lady doll based upon the illustrations of American artist Charles Dana Gibson. Value Points: very beautiful example of the classic doll, wearing superb antique velvet dress with lace and beaded trim, feathered bonnet and boa wrap, undergarments, stockings and shoes.
