18" (46 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, arched feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with pale accented lips, ears pierced into head, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, all-wooden body with shapely torso, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, swivel-jointed wrists. Condition: generally excellent, some rubs on original wooden body. Comments: French, circa 1867. Value Points: the beautiful wooden-bodied poupee wears lovely lavender costume and matching bonnet, leather shoes marked C.C., and owns an early trunk with labeled compartments for Bijoux, Gants (gloves), and Epingles (hair ornaments), along with an extensive trousseau comprising blue woolen coat with capelet collar and scalloped edge, blue linen beach dress, brown linen suit with long jacket and white blouse, taupe cashmere walking suit with purple ruffles; white lawn day dress, silk fitted jacket, white cotton day dress with demi-train (and matching petticoat), six undergarments, white embroidered jacket, three collars, chemisette, sleevelets, hooded cape, silk skirt and numerous accessories including leather strap flannel blanket, wooden hat box with muslin snood and black velvet ribbons, brown and blue silk bone-handled parasol in original box (silk frail), black silk parasol with bone handle (silk frail), leather purse, kidskin gloves, two hair combs, mirror, and six fancy bonnets (one with Paris label) in various styles. Included is an early rosewood dressing table with grey marble top and hinged mirror.
