Description
20" (51 cm.) Bisque socket head, small blue glass inset eyes, painted lashes, brushstroked brows with feathered detail, accented nostrils, closed mouth with suggestion of teeth, brunette human hair wig, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1915, the maker remains a mystery although the doll was likely inspired by the French artist doll movement of the post-WWI era which presented dolls such as those of Marque, Van Rozen, and Poulbot. Value Points: rare doll with great characterization and bisque, original body and body finish, wonderful antique costume and bonnet.
