20" (51 cm.) h. 13"w. 7"d. Of fine mahogany with burled rosewood veneers on the drawers and doors arranged in an intricate marquetry design, the secretaire features the writing desk above three lower drawers; the desk interior finished in a remarkable rich teal blue finish and with pale aqua green silk writing pad with embossed edging. White marble forms the roof of the desk which is edged with gilded metal beading; the drawer pulls, feet and decorative mounts are of cast bronze and are highlighted by figural mounts of women at each corner. At the back is a brass medallion of the prestige Parisian doll store of Simonne, indicating not only its original presentation, but also its luxury status. Excellent condition. French, circa 1865, a rare fine whose luxury details include interior finish and writing pad and ornate bronze decorations.
