Description
25" (64 cm.) Poured wax head with well-defined facial features, brown glass inset eyes, closed mouth, long curled white beard, hair, and moustache, padded armature body, wax hands. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: St. Nicholas Made and Dressed by Lewis Sorensen. Comments: Lewis Sorensen, mid-century American dollmaker, he created wax dolls of Santa Claus, St. Nicholas, Gibson Girls, fashionable ladies and others from about 1935-1965, and was a charter member of NIADA. Value Points: wonderfully-preserved doll, wearing original red velvet St. Nicholas suit with brown fur trim, black boots, and carrying lantern.
