Description
24" (61 cm.) Bisque socket head, brown glass sleep eyes, dark eyeliner, painted curly lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with downcast pouting expression, brunette mohair wig, composition bent limb baby body, antique romper suit. Condition: generally excellent, original body and body finish. Marks: K*R Simon & Halbig 119/Baby 62. Comments: Kammer and Reinhardt, circa 1912, a continuation model from the firm's art reform series, in an unusual move the firm actually incised the word "Baby" next to the model number on the head. The model closely resembles their earlier 115 model which was designed as a young child with ball-jointed body and this unusual marking was likely to indicate the "younger" portrayal of the 115 child. Value Points: finest quality of bisque and modeling, original body and body finish of the very rare doll of which few are known to exist.
