Description
18" (46 cm.) Bisque swivel head with flat-cut neck socket allowing realistic articulation side to side (rather than complete swivel), very plump cheeks, cobalt blue glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, arched feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips and center accent line, unpierced ears, brunette human hair wig in braided coronet over original kid-edged cork pate, French kid-over-wooden body with shapely torso, dowel jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, jointed bisque lower arms and hands with curled fingers, wearing lovely blue silk gown with lace trim, matching bonnet, stockings, blue kidskin heeled boots. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Simonne (original label on torso). Comments: Blampoix, circa 1860 exhibiting his depose of unique swivel head, the doll commissioned by the Parisian luxury toy store of Simonne from which it was originally sold. Value Points: rare facial model with deposed neck swivel, Simonne label, fully-articulated body, bisque lower arms, wonderful costume highlighted by fabulous boots.
